An instrument for finding out where you are

It began with one recurring job: a ticket quoting a translated string, and no way to get from the string to the metadata that produced it. Setup answers that question backwards, one component at a time, and a multilingual org multiplies it by every language it speaks.

A sextant does not move the ship. It tells you, from what you can see, exactly where you are — and that is the whole job here: from the words on the screen to the component, its API name, its translations and its history, without leaving the page.

• A single-purpose tool: find, understand, change and track the metadata behind what a Salesforce org shows — labels, fields, picklist values, Custom Labels and their translations.
• Local-first by design. There is no server, no account and no telemetry; Sextant works with the Salesforce session you already have and keeps what it keeps in your browser profile.
• Built and tested like a product: an automated test suite that runs before every release, a release pipeline with published hashes and a software bill of materials, a public privacy policy and security policy, and an interactive demo that runs the real code against a fictional org.

The source code is not public yet. When it is, its address will be here, and the transparency material — security policy, privacy policy, data handling, and how each release is built and verified — will be published alongside it.
